Department of Paediatrics

Overview

The Department of Paediatrics at AMCCu is committed to providing high-quality care for children from birth to adolescence while delivering excellent undergraduate and postgraduate training. The department covers neonatology, general paediatrics, paediatric nutrition, and childhood infectious diseases.

Students benefit from a structured clinical attachment programme that includes ward rounds, OPD clinics, and emergency paediatrics under the guidance of experienced paediatric consultants.

  • General Paediatric Wards: Dedicated male and female wards for inpatient paediatric care.
  • Neonatal Unit: Special care nursery for management of sick and preterm neonates.
  • Paediatric OPD: High-volume outpatient clinic with diverse childhood conditions.
  • Vaccination Programme: Active participation in the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI).
  • Nutrition Rehabilitation: Management of severe acute malnutrition following national protocols.
  • Postgraduate Training: FCPS and Diploma in Child Health training programme.

The paediatric department has 60 inpatient beds including a 12-cot special care neonatal unit. The outpatient department sees over 200 children daily.
